Design Development
In the early 2010s, owls were all over the market. We hopped on the bandwagon.
There’s something about owls that’s fun to explore. Despite its distinctive look, there’s a lot of room to play with for each element - from the belly, wings, beak and most especially the eyes.
From the series of concept sketches, the pair of owls above became the final iterations. With the simple flip of its wings, the duo became a parody of “The Innocent” and “The Guilty”, emphasizing the whimsical nature of the item.
To convey playfulness, non-matching yet coordinated patterns were chosen for the belly, wings and body of the owl. Colors were inspired by nature but added a higher contrast to provide energy and movement. To avoid, computer influenced patterns, preliminary designs were hand drawn before finalizing in CAD.
