Design Development
Ideation
We keep ornaments in mind all year round. Every brainstorming session, we also review old sketches in case something we had before would actually work for the upcoming season. The rocking horse was actually an idea we sketched a year earlier before we realized we needed a traditional baby’s ornament
Rocking Horses & Similar Ornaments
We looked at existing rocking horse ornaments in the market place to make sure ours would be different. In addition, we also referenced antique pieces and sculptures for form and other key elements
Final Design & Specification Sheet
In making the rocking horse our very own, signature Michael Aram textures were used. We applied a hammertone texture on the runners and the saddle. The stirrups were done in molten beads from our Molten Collection. The main and tail were nickelplated for a metallic element while the body of the horse was handpainted white with glitter which is seen on some of our ornament. These specs were sent out to our overseas vendor for sculpting, costing and sampling.
