3D Weave Serving Tray

Inspired from Budji Layug’s “3D Weave” furniture collection, this serving tray is just as functional as it is decorative. 1/8” diameter metal rods are used on the topmost layer to carry the load. To keep it light, the lower layers of weaves are made of black coated wicker. A wooden frame in “kamagong” finish encloses the rods.

During the sampling process, we had first used metal rods for all of the weaves which ended up being too heavy. It was then suggested we make use of wicker on the lower layers to keep it light and also reduce costs.

We had asked to add cutouts underneath the short sides of the tray to serve as handles.
